The Traveller’s Rest- Journey, don’t stop believin’ (not always with glee).

Update in the aisles There have been some interesting days in the Asda aisles. Some personal stuff and some stuff to do with those brilliant work colleagues. Have been asked by a girl called Lyndsay if I would consider “christening” her children. Talked about doing a dedication instead and asking God’s blessing on her kids [...]

The Traveller’s Rest- Guide Me Oh Thou Great Jehovah, pilgrim through this barren land…

Lead Me… One of the greatest issues for any believer is knowing the will of God for our lives. How often do we pray for God to guide our steps? How many times have we asked, “where next Lord?” How much have we longed for a prophetic word in season or for the Sunday sermon [...]

The Traveller’s Rest- The Two Headed Monster (Leadership).

There is only one head… but would we really think so the way we behave and act as His so called ‘church’? In reality I was under-exaggerating calling it the two headed monster. There are heads all over the place. Heads of denominations, heads of ministries, heads of organisations, heads of local churches, heads of [...]

The Traveller’s Rest- Is Leadership Mail?

Early again this week due to internet probs at home. Here is our continued look at the subject of leadership (?) Epistles and apostles Outside of the teachings and influence of Jesus there is the letters that Paul wrote to various churches and individuals concerning the flow and function of the ekklesia and the characteristics [...]

The Traveller’s Rest- is Leadership Biblical?

New Landscape Over the next few weeks I want to explore the concept of leadership in the new landscape. It will be an exploration, meaning this is uncharted territory and therefore may be new thoughts open to debate in all areas. Martin has touched on this theme as he has looked at Pentecost, I just [...]

The Traveller’s Rest- A Journey Through Sound.

Can You Hear The Sound? This week is going to be a little bit different. We are going to take a journey together. A journey through sound. God loves communicating through sound. From Genesis where we are told that Adam and Eve heard the sound of the Lord God walking in the cool of the [...]

The Traveller’s Rest- Finding Everland.

Whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will by no means enter it… I put away childish things… Big or Finding Neverland I love a good movie. I love all sorts of movies. From the action adventure fantasy of Lord of the Rings (all 2 million hours of it) to [...]

The Traveller’s Rest- the truth is out there (?)

Fundamental truths The majority of my journey has been spent inside the Assemblies of God. Made a decision to follow Christ in a local A.O.G. church in Lakenheath, Suffolk. I was 15 years of age. Had already been attending kids and youth stuff there on and off for a few years before then. Of course [...]

The Traveller’s Rest- Spiritual obesity…FEED ME!!!!

Day early this week due to having a date with my gorgeous wife tomorrow. Crossing Over I have always loved the story of Joshua. A disciple who fulfilled his destiny. A pioneer and not a settler. One who was prepared to fight for promise and not lay down. A friend of harlots long before the [...]

The Traveller’s Rest- ‘we want a king.’

Gideon’s fleecing again I believe the greatest leaders are the one’s who will refuse position and title. They would rather put on the towel than pick up the trowel. They will influence from among and not guide from above. They will realise that being last in the queue is more powerful than being first. They [...]

The Traveller’s Rest- a house is not a home.

God hates buildings… Acts 15:16 I will rebuild the tabernacle of David which has fallen down. This is one of those great restoration/revival/renewal passages that we love to quote. The rebuilding of the tabernacle of David. The restoration of 24/7 worship. Musicians, singers, ministering before the Lord, Obed-Edom (I love his story), the heart of [...]

The Traveller’s Rest- The Mezzanine Floor

2 Samual 3:1 In the time of transition the house of Saul and the house of David were in existence side by side. In-fact they not only existed together there were clear times when David would actually serve the house of Saul even though he knew he was the anointed king and that the anointing [...]

The 'Gates' of society

Gates

Much of the material that will be central to these posts will cover perspectives on the 'gates' of society, the places of influence that shape the culture. If transformation is a desired outcome, such aspects as strategic prayer and understanding the redemptive gifts of places will play their part. As prayer opens up space, filling it will be vital, not in a controlling, top-down sense, but with a servant spirit. Finding appropriate terminology is difficult. Maybe 'transformation' is not the right term, perhaps 'transfiguration', where inner qualities burst through.

I have chosen to use the term 'gates' and although they can be defined any number of ways these are the seven ways I have chosen to group them by:

  • Arts & entertainment
  • Business, commerce & trade
  • Education & training
  • Family & community
  • Health, science & technology
  • Media & communication
  • Politics, government, law & order
