Churchill & MT

Although living outside the UK the events in the UK are always of interest, and the breaking news is of the resignation of Liz Truss as PM of the UK. 45 days in that seat… Perspectives!

There were a number of prophetic words around Boris Johnson being a ‘new Churchill’; and when the current election was buzzing as to who would come to lead the conservative party I along with a number of others saw a woman coming to that position and that she would be a new ‘Margaret Thatcher’.

A little aside… Two days ago I was hosting with Carl Wills and Gayle a Zoom gathering, and into that I said – if Liz T goes quickly it will show we are seeing something shift quickly. And that is not a comment on her as a person, nor a comment against conservative politics… so here comes the perspective.

Make Britain great again? No. That is not on the heart of God. Prophetic words can often be right, but it is how they meet expectation that the issues begin to arise. The example I have given numerous times is of Peter ‘prophesying’ the identity of Jesus as ‘you are the Christ’. Quickly followed up by ‘not so Lord’, and the wonderful loving rebuke by Jesus of ‘get behind me Satan’.

I am happy with ‘a new Churchill’, ‘a new Margaret Thatcher’, or (elsewhere) ‘he will be a wrecking ball’. It is the next step that becomes important.

So a perspective… Churchill, MT belong to an era, to something from the past. So ties with the ‘again’ words. I believe that those manfestations had to rise to cleanse / get it out of the system for the future. My comment two days ago was that the shift in the past couple of hours is showing us that something is shifting quickly.

We are not through the cleansing… but it is vital that the UK gets a major cleansing. If that happens something can shift in the USA, and also in Europe. So get ready for shakings!!! The hole left will be closed quickly, there will be proclamations that the ship has been steadied and back on course!! However, once true north is lost there is no course.

And we should not be looking for a quick passage through the instability. It is here until there is a cleansing. New global alignments.

  1. Of course this resonates with the ’20 years’ perspective in the post prior to this one. And indeed the transformation we are experiencing and going to experience is far larger and deeper than we can imagine. I mean that literally. It is beyond our imagining. And that is the problem really. If we cannot imagine it then we cannot plan for it. And we are stuck reacting as things come.
We perish, as a people, and perhaps as a species, for lack of imagination. Imagination is the basis of visioning and planning, strategizing for how we move forward.
This also connects back to your posts on bringing forward the feminine. Truss and Thatcher before her were firmly wedded to and champions of the existing paternalistic system. They did not challenge it in any way. And yet, it is paternalism itself that is being shifted and pushed against. I think of the Iranian protestors with the chant ‘woman, life, freedom’. They got it right. The feminine has to come forward if we are going to have life. But that is not the same as putting an individual woman in power. Truss was never going to stay long. She was a begrudged placeholder. That’s all.
But we will only be able to move on into the essential shaking if we exercise our imaginations and develop a vision for what can come after. As Fiona Hill, in the article posted in the previous blog points out. . . the post world order is gone. Something else will come in its place. Who is going to put that order in place? What will it look like? Right now Putin would be happy to tell us what the new order should look like. We need a vision in order to resist handing him the power to shape what comes next.

  2. Of course Putin could be challenging the power and control the west ( and NATO) are trying to express in many different ways.
The UK is in turmoil and yet I would rather be in the midst of that right now rather than for example Canada where very little seems to be able to shake the control exerted by Ottawa. Amazing challenging and exciting times to be living in.
Perhaps Boris will return to lead us out of this war that is raging. ? The UK seems to be one of the places where the war is at its fiercest. Where is the spirit leading after this. I’m looking forward to that reality happening sooner rather than later.

    1. We all have perspectives. One is – look to places in Africa, South America, far East and we will see where we need to go – we look at the places where ‘revival’ is currently. We can look at what has gone in the West with post-Christendom. And of course we can all read history and the Bible our own way.
I am of the opinion that the UK is central to so much, but not in a ‘make Britain great again’ setting. So… real pressure in the UK for years to come… and if Boris comes back, for me a step BAAAAACK… and conversely the forward direction will not be pretty.
I reflected a few days ago that in a conference a number of years ago to a particular movement I said ‘it has ended, the train terminates here’. Next year I returned to try to speak of the future. That was more than a mistake, it was simply wrong. One does not speak to a corpse about the future.

  3. I feel that God will not tolerate lies, cheating and blatant disregard for qualities such as integrity and honour etc. He may have given us grace for a very long time over this but enough is enough! Things are shifting for sure and I do think it is partly a judgment thing. When we disregard the dispossessed of the world and become insular and introspective caring only for ourselves and our own well being then this is what will happen (disorder, chaos, collapse). All this seen in the Conservative party at the moment and still they do not see that they need to step aside!!?. It’s there throughout the Old Testament – warning after warning after warning and Jesus demonstrates that power is only redeemed through total service and sacrifice. I completely agree that the ‘making Britain great again’ is utterly dissonant as all forms of Nationalism are in any nation state in the world. It is entirely toxic and always ends up nowhere good even if the initial intentions were not malevolent. We only need to look at the fruits of Nationalism in the 20th century and how tragic it is on the rise in other European states! Patriotism is different and more inclusive and benign.

  4. PS: apologies, I meant patriarchal rather than paternalistic. Though one begets the other. It must have been the fresh-on-my-mind article from the Guardian of women who are tired of men correcting them all the time. That is paternalistic born of patriarchy and yes, we are tired of it. Change is coming, sooner than we think and more quickly than we feel ready.
